Fluid Mechanics : Control Volume Analysis

Control volume is simply a boundary of interest for analyzing physical properties of an object in which the fluid(s) flow across

Common Applications

Some of the applications to which the control volume analysis is applied are as follows :

  • Calculating the reaction forces and moments for a rigid-body
  • Analyzing the water drainage rate from the large water tank or bathroom/kitchen sink
  • Analyzing liquid flow across a long piping system with losses where necessary – calculating pump or hydraulic power is based on this analysis
